Ant\u00f4nio Chaves assumiu a prefeitura da cidade por meses, em 2018, ap\u00f3s a Anabel de Tista (PSD), ter a sua candidatura indeferida, ap\u00f3s ter sido eleita no pleito de 2016. Ainda em 2018, Jeremoabo passou por uma elei\u00e7\u00e3o suplementar, e Ant\u00f4nio Chaves decidiu disputar ao lado de Diana de Irene, por\u00e9m a dupla foi derrotada por Deri do Paloma e Lula de Dalvinho.
